The students in these pictures are exploring the shapes of normal distributions by pouring salt onto sheets of graph paper. The shape of the curve of the salt may be tall and narrow, or wide and flat, depending upon the rate of flow of the salt and the angle at which the graph paper is held. All of the resulting shapes are members of the family of normal distributions.

Experimental design is the subject of the activities shown in these pictures. Through the Jump Frogs Lab and the Gummy Bears Lab, the students are learning about main effects, factorial designs, and interaction.
