Simple Voice Journal is designed to let you keep personal journal entries and notes while keeping your information under your control. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app stores and how that information is handled by the developer, Scribner Messenger.
Information Stored by the App
Simple Voice Journal may store information that you enter or create in the app, including:
- Names you use to identify yourself or other people you journal about
- Journal questions and settings
- Journal entries, notes, and speech-to-text transcripts
- Moods you record
- Dates and times associated with entries and notes
- Reminder settings
- Optional location information associated with journal entries
- Audio recordings used to create journal entries and notes
The app does not require you to create an account with the developer.
iCloud Syncing
Simple Voice Journal uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to synchronize certain information between your Apple devices when you use the same Apple Account and have the applicable iCloud services enabled.
Information that may be synchronized includes names, journal questions, journal entries and notes, transcripts, moods, dates and times, reminder settings, optional location information, and information needed to maintain work in progress.
This information is stored in your private iCloud/CloudKit database. The developer does not operate a server that receives this information and does not have routine access to the contents of your private CloudKit database.
Audio recordings are not synchronized through CloudKit. They remain stored locally on the device on which they were recorded.
Your use of iCloud and CloudKit is also subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.
Apple Services
Speech Recognition
Simple Voice Journal uses Apple's speech-recognition technology to convert speech to text. Depending on the device, operating-system capabilities, and Apple's handling of the recognition request, speech recognition may occur on the device or may involve Apple's speech-recognition services.
The developer does not receive your speech or transcripts as part of this process.
Location
If you grant the app permission to use your location, Simple Voice Journal may associate location information with a journal entry. Location access is optional and is controlled through the privacy settings on your device.
Location information stored with an entry may be included in the information synchronized through your private iCloud/CloudKit database.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Simple Voice Journal uses Apple's local notification system to provide them. The developer does not operate a notification server for these reminders.
Information Collected by the Developer
The developer does not operate a server that collects your journal entries, notes, recordings, location information, or other content during ordinary use of the app.
Simple Voice Journal does not use advertising, advertising networks, or tracking technologies, and does not use your information for marketing.
Exporting Your Information
Simple Voice Journal allows you to export journal information as text. Exporting occurs only when you choose to do so.
Once you export or share information from the app, its handling depends on the destination or service you select. The privacy practices of that destination or service are outside the control of the developer.
Information About Other People
Simple Voice Journal allows you to keep entries and notes about yourself or other people. If you enter personal information about another person, you are responsible for deciding whether it is appropriate to record, store, or share that information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the app's features or privacy practices change. The current version will be made available with the app or on the Simple Voice Journal website.
